Health care costs are on the rise. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation's Employer Health Benefits 2009 Annual Survey, over the past 10 years, employer-sponsored health insurance premiums have increased by 131 percent. Employees have seen their cost of job-based coverage increase at nearly the same rate during this period, jumping from $1,543 to $3,515. Health care reform would provide relief to employers, alleviating this problem. And according to a study on home foreclosures, about 1.5 million families lose their homes to foreclosure EVERY YEAR due to unaffordable medical costs. With a cap on out-of-pocket expenses, we could see that number drop significantly.
