There are so many questions that Senator Vitter has not answered, he has dodged almost all of the Louisiana Reporters from New Orleans to Lafayette in the last few weeks. This is nothing new, in fact Vitter has gotten quite good at just “waiting stories out” like he did in the “D.C. Madame” case where his phone number was found numerous times on the call records of Ms. Debra Jane Palfrey before she was found dead in Florida just days before her trial. Senator Vitter has never had to answer any reporters’ questions about that “serious sin.” And in recent weeks it was found that Senator Vitter kept the employ of a Staffer with multiple DUI convictions, and outstanding warrant from the Baton Rouge area and who had been accused of kidnapping his girlfriend and holding her at knifepoint for over 90 minutes. Senator Vitter has not had to answer any questions on this one either, instead at a press conference, wife in tow, he seemingly lied to reporters when they asked about this employee. Vitter stated that she wasn’t assigned to “women’s issues” even though numerous DC publications and directories show that Furer was assigned that very issue. And when Domestic Violence Prevention groups scheduled meetings in DC just weeks before this story broke – they were assigned to meet with Furer. With two huge scandals such as these, one must ask the question – Will Fox News have ANY credibility at ALL left if they allow Senator Vitter to appear on their premier Sunday News program and not ask him anything about these issues – or worse allow him to continue to lie without confrontation? A lot can be said about Fox News Network, though it is my sincere belief that Chris Wallace, Host of Fox News Sunday, has Journalistic Integrity. He is not an “opinion” show – he does want to get to the truth. So let’s hope his better anges win out over the typical Fox News Networks SOP where they allow countless Republicans to appear on their programs only to provide a “soft landing” at a time of scandal. So which is it going to be, Fox? Mr. Wallace? |
