The so-called front-runner for the Governor's race, "Bobby" Jindal, continued his cowardly ways this weekend. He skipped a gubernatorial campaign forum in Monroe on Saturday, claiming pressing Congressional votes. He was present for ONE vote on Saturday morning - the one to adjourn the session that FAILED 136-246.
Then he decided to take the rest of the day off, missing 22 votes on Energy Issues, the Protect America Act, and the Defense Appopriations Bill. Don't believe me? Then click here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here,
and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here, and here.
That's 22, count 'em, 22 votes he missed because he was oh, so busy attending to pressing Congressional votes. The issue here is not so much that he missed doing what we pay him some $165,000 per year to do, but the fact that he LIED about having to attend to pressing Congressional votes, and then skipping out on 22 of 23 votes that day! Has "Bobby" Jindal no shame? Pray tell, where did the erstwhile Congressman go?
In other news, I'm sure by now you've seen this purple and gold Tigers for Jindal sticker all over the state. Well, LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe and other University officials are not happy about it. In a response to a citizen's email informing O'Keefe about it, he responded:
"LSU does have strict guidelines and standards for the use of its marks and colors and closely monitors infringement on the university's trademark rights. Several recent campaigns have used the school colors, and we took steps to curtail such use. We have been made aware of the issue you reference, have already contacted the campaign, and they have agreed to stop producing and distributing the materials."
I wonder if the University's response would have been different, in terms of not sending an official letter, if the candidate in question was a Democrat. I only raise this issue because it is well-known that O'Keefe is a Republican, having been one of Vice-President Cheney's proteges.
Despite O'Keefe's influence, the Advocate is reporting that:
However, [Jindal's] campaign press secretary, Melissa Sellers, said Jindal will continue to distribute the Tiger bumper stickers.
She did not respond to further questions about the issue.
Has "Bobby" Jindal no respect for other people or institutions? Based on these two incidents, I must conclude that he thinks he can do anything he wants.
