LA-GOV: Louisiana Federation of Teachers Endorses Foster Campbell

Yesterday, the Louisiana Federation of Teachers (LFT) endorsed gubernatorial hopeful Foster Campbell.

Now, this was no gimme for Foster. He had to go through a candidate forum, straw polls of the UFT membership in each region of Louisiana, and extensive interviews about his platform and his record.

Not suprisingly, "Bobby" Jindal didn't even bother to meet with the LFT officials, nor did he bother to respond to the LFT's questionnaire. Lord knows he worked to get the endorsement of the Sheriffs and Police, so why not expend some effort to gain the endorsement of those who help shape our State's future on a daily basis?

But back to the matter at hand ... the LFT's endorsement of Foster Campbell. LFT President Steve Monaghan said it better than I can:

As a state senator, a member of the Public Service Commission and as a citizen, Foster Campbell has always put the interests of the people first. Our executive board’s decision to endorse him was unanimous and enthusiastic.”
But more importantly, the LFT will be pushing the Louisiana AFL-CIO to endorse Foster at their next meeting ... which is today.

Recent Polls? New Orleans subpoena controversy (0.00 / 0)
Does Campbell, or anyone else for that matter, have any type of shot against Jindal. Bobby's been getting ready for this job for years now, I don't see him having too many slip-ups on the campaign trail. What are the polls looking like? Is Jindal even at risk of having to do the December runoff?

Also, I'm curious for some opinions on the subpoena showdown here in New Orleans thats been in the papers. Seems like Councilwoman Head is sticking to her guns. Do people think other grassroots candidates have a chance at dismantling the traditional corrupt machine?

There WILL be a run-off & Campbell will be in it. (0.00 / 0)
Right now Jindal is polling at 52%.  Counted in that number is about 20% Aftrican-American, which I seriously doubt will happen on election day.  From what I understand, most pollsters are thinking Jindal gets 44-42% in October.

Campbell is starting to come on at the right time.
