(We're looking at definite run-offs in the Agriculture Commissioner's race, and the Attorney General's race. Potential run-offs in the Insurance Commissioner's race, as well as in the Governor's race. As of 9:50 PM CST, I'm calling the Secretary of State's race for Republican "Jay" Dardenne, and the Lt. Governor's race for Democrat Mitch Landrieu. As of 11:00 PM CST, I'm calling the Governor's race for "Bobby" Jindal. Congratulations, Mr. Jindal. By the way, God Save Our State. - promoted by ryan)

Welcome!  For all you out-of-state visitors, we have a weird (to y'all) system in electing folks here.  Everyone runs against everybody in an open primary the first time around.  If no one gets 50% of the vote, then we take the top two finishers and place them in a runoff, 30 days later, which this year falls on November 17th.

Governor
Walter Boasso (D)-  17%
Foster Campbell (D)- 12%
John Georges (I)- 14%
"Bobby" Jindal (R)- 54%

Lt. Governor
Gary Beard (R)- 11%
"Sammy" Kershaw (R)- 30%
Mitch Landrieu (D)- 57%

Secretary of State
"Jay" Dardenne (R)- 63%
"R." Wooley (D)- 31%

Attorney General
Royal Alexander (R)- 32% (395,649)
"Buddy" Caldwell (D)- 36% (434,111)
Charles Foti (D)- 32% (389,568)

AG Commisioner
Wayne Carter (R) - 12%
"Bob" Odom (D)- 41%
Mike Strain (R)- 40%

Insurance Commisioner
"Jim" Crowley (D)- 36%
"Jim" Donelon (R)- 51%

Those maps are ass-kicking ... (0.00 / 0)
And serve to underscore the piss-poor job our Gubernatorial candidates did in convincing voters they were better than Jindal.

"I was against NAFTA and CAFTA, and I'll be against SHAFTA."

Yeah, maybe a little slow... (0.00 / 0)
I'm not sure they data is all that quickly matched to the maps.

In other news, I finally was able to get the LA-SOS parish data to load for Orleans. 328 of 442 precincts reporting....

Mitch shoulda run for Guv!

"I was against NAFTA and CAFTA, and I'll be against SHAFTA."

But the key part is ... (0.00 / 0)
only 50,000 folks in NOLA came out to vote?  And supposedly 250,000-ish have come back or stayed there?  Seriously, WTF?!

"I was against NAFTA and CAFTA, and I'll be against SHAFTA."

Piss Poor is Right! (0.00 / 0)
What can we expect when the top tier of Democrats (Breaux, Blanco, Melancon, Senator Landrieu, etc.) sat out the race and didn't even make an endorsement.  Nagin did make a half-assed endorsement of Georges.

I will continue to vote for the folks that sat out the race but none of them will get a cent of my limited political money or a minute of my time.  I will devote my money and time to out-of-state politics where the good guys have a chance.

I hope and pray that I am wrong but this election looks like another step backward for Louisiana.  What Jindal and his right-wing masters are going to do to Louisiana is scary!

State Senate (0.00 / 0)
My tally is

19 Dem wins
10 Rep wins
5 Dem/Dem runoffs
4 Dem/Rep runoffs
1 Rep/Rep runoffs

So that means that the state senate will have anywhere from 24 to 28 Democrats, and from 11 to 15 Republicans.

No word on the state house. Because 105 is larger than 39

I'm currently working on the results for the State Senate. (0.00 / 0)
The House, will have to wait ... as 105 is bigger than 39

"I was against NAFTA and CAFTA, and I'll be against SHAFTA."

I'm glad.... (0.00 / 0)
