Aight, folks. 512 of 512 precincts in.

Candidate Votes % of Vote
Don Cazayoux (D) 49,702 49.20%
Woody Jenkins (R) 46,741 46.27%
Ashley Casey (I-R) 3,718 3.68%

IT'S ALL BATON ROUGE LEFT BABY!

I think, with a 2800 vote lead, and 3 precincts to report, we can call this one for CAZAYOUX! I knocked on doors for about 4 hours this afternoon, and here are my results:

85 doors knocked
40 Not Home
45 Voted Cazayoux
0 Voted Jenkins
0 Voted Casey

Keep in mind, I was knocking doors of folks that were ID'd as Cazayoux supporters. We asked if they voted, and every single person told me "I voted for Cazayoux!" By the way, I was in House District 69, which is one of the most Republican districts in Baton Rouge. I did knock on the doors of approximately 15 Republicans, and, surprisingly, all were home, and all told me CAZAYOUX!

LA-06 - Congressman Don Cazayoux (D) (0.00 / 0)
Way to go Don!!!
Thanks to all of you who worked, voted, and supported Don.
I live in the wrong part of Pointe Coupee to have voted for him but we did what we could.
Hopefully, after redistricting Pointe Coupee will be wholly in Don's District.

Thanks, Ryan for all you and others on Daily Kingfish have done for PC's favorite Son.

Democrats never agree on anything, that's why they're Democrats. If they agreed with each other, they would be Republicans.

OK, it looks like all precincts are reporting. Ah, what a relief to not have Woody "Behold-My-Plastic-Fetus-and-I-Support-Central-American-Terrorists" Jenkins as my "representative." Gawd, the very idea makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Thanks for knocking on doors, posting here, and everything else you've done, Ryan. Hope you're celebrating however you like celebrating.

I voted early in the afternoon (FYI--my precinct is the firehouse on Govt. literally a hop and step from the Dem. HQ), stopped by Fest-for-All, and am now going to take it easy...I'm on a budget, but if I stay in tonight I can afford a Jazz Fest ticket tomorrow...where I'll celebrate Cazayoux's win by seeing Santana and Snooks Eglin.

Ryan, you said previously that you would be "shocked" if Casey got more than 1%.

She got more than 1%.

And listing her as "I-R" is more than a little disingenuous, as she is easily the MOST liberal of the 3. Much moreso than the self described "fiscal conservative" (Don called himself that several times during the debate) and proven social conservative (as proven by his questionnaires and legislature votes).

Casey may have been a registered Republican at one time, but a Northeast Republican is still more liberal than a Southeast Democrat. Not to mention all the work she did with Democrats in New Orleans.

If we have gotten to the point where "liberalism" is just falling in line to support the watered down candidate that the DCCC feeds us, then maybe it's time you counted me out in future elections.

I'm glad Woody didn't win, but I still can't say a Conservative didn't.

Good seeing everybody out! (0.00 / 0)
Congrats to CONGRESSMAN Cazayoux, and the new Cajun Caucus (thanks Charlie!)

It feels damned good to be a Democrat in South Louisiana today!

Congrats Congressman Cazayoux (0.00 / 0)
Has a much nicer ring to it than Congressman Jenkins don't you think?

His dreams will never be...and ours have come to be.
