Ryan, Say Something!

Steve Scalise is holding a meeting at the SHELL GAS STATION in Metairie. Haa!... oh, what a perfect pair.

Stevie-Boy is going to solve America's Oil problem!... (giggling over here) .. the answer is "all right here off LA.'s coastline"... (Right where we've been the whole time).. "billions of barrels"... "we could be completely independent of the Middle East oil" right away.  (our hero)

"MR. DUMAS" award goes to Steve Scalise.

"All we have to do is drill in Anwar..." Scalise says.    Duh- All the experts agree, all together, every bit of Anwar oil would be a drop in the bucket of America's Energy problem.. and, then what, Stevie?

Oh, "we have billions of barrels of oil on the other side of the Continental shelf off the Coast of LA" .... We do? Then Louisiana is the new Saudi Arabia?  (what is he smoking?.. His ego has gone NUTS.)

big sigh.

Maybe he wore a red cape at the gas station.

When was this? (0.00 / 1)
This morning... early broadcasts on all the local newscasts.  A media circus... and the meeting is happening now(Wednesday morning, July 2, at the Causway Shell Station...LOL- his "old hood") ...expect more news coverage of Scalise saving America-- all day long.

It's all about Scalise's bill he's introducing to Congress today ... He wants to lift to moratorium on drilling beyond the Continental Shelf off the Shores of Louisiana... (Scalise = Bush's Minnie Me)

Scalise is simply playing politics--no real plan. (0.00 / 1)
Home for the 4th of July recess and Scalise is campaigning for the seat he won with less than 10% of registered voters.

His familiar "it's all Pelosi's fault" is the same sing-song he repeated ad nauseum in the last campaign.  Scalise voted AGAINST the bill to prevent gas goughing--and it passed anyway.  Now he has a plan to save us all from the rape at the pumps?  Give me a break!

Drilling every drop in ANWR will be a piddly contribution and would not be usable for 10 years.  Drilling new sites in the gulf likewise would take 8 to 10 years.

We should proceed with extracting oil from advantageous sites.  But that is not the end-all answer.  Louisiana is sitting on a wealth of sugar cane.  We need to convert it to fuel like Brazil has been doing successfully for 30 years.  Sugar cane is unlike corn in that converting it does not spike the price of sugar since the waste is used.  Sugar ethanol is also more potent and cleaner than corn ethanol.

In addition, there are answers in the technology and research ongoing with wind, solar, water, geothermal,   etc--all means of solving our energy dependence on fossil fuels.  Already invented are cars that run on water, air or hydrogen.

Oil magnates have not exhausted their supplies of already drilled sites and have even capped some of them to force prices higher.  Oil companies do not want to invest in more plants as their profit margins are doing them just fine.  They want a tight market.  It can be better controlled for their own benefit.

Until we have a cop back on the beat to regulate oil trading like we do for every other commodity trader, the cost of oil will continue to be artificially inflated.  Until we get tougher on conglomerate mergers, we will continue to have too much power concentrated in too few hands.  5 big oil companies control over 50% of US refining capacity.  We need to close the Enron loophole and we need to have a ceiling or limit on the number of contracts any 1 company can land at 1 time.

Ahh, yes, that's it! (0.00 / 1)
Do people really think that Scalise is going to bring the price down at the pumps for Louisiana?...LOL!... I forgot, Dr.Reed, that he has to "run again!" (silly me)

Dat weasel.  Getting news coverage to campaign for his own a**.

Who's buying this?  I would think "his own party" is laughing.

WWL even sent Sally-Ann (0.00 / 1)
Yup-- there was Steve Scalise, at the Chevron Station.. looking comfortable in his white collar and necktie in the hot sun; great "natural environment"- a tripod set up on the sidewalk with a color-map, at which Scalise, wired with microphone, pointed a long stick... THAT was the news meeting.

Did Roger Villere stop giving Scalise money for his promotions?  And why is the New Orleans media licking this stuff up?

Even investigative reporter Sally Ann Roberts was there.. singing her chant about the gas problems of our country... strrrretching a Scalise promotion.. And, Anchorman, Eric Roberts, had visions of sugar-plums quoting "$3 gas prices"...

Enough already!
