| Last week, I hit on the main point of Republican candidate John Neely Kennedy's fundraising numbers for the second quarter of 2008:
| Candidate |
Raised 1st Quarter |
Raised 2nd Quarter - Bush Help |
Difference |
| John Kennedy |
$1,400,000 |
$980,000 |
$420,000 |
In other words, if it wasn't for President Bush, John Neely Kennedy's campaign would be answering questions as to why their fundraising #'s had dropped this quarter compared to last quarter.
Predictably, the Kennedy campaign revised their fundraising numbers to "best" Senator Landrieu's fundraising numbers so they would be able to claim a small victory. In response, I made a challenge to readers that when the final #'s came out, Senator Landrieu's fundraising total would be higher than that of John Neely Kennedy's. It seems Oyster accepted the challenge.
Well, I am happy to report that I was right! Here are the revised #'s with the Kennedy's original #'s right next to them:
| Candidate |
Raised 2nd Quarter |
Election Cycle to Date |
Cash on Hand |
| John Kennedy |
$1,510,000 $1,480,000 |
$3,620,000 $3,590,000 |
$2,730,000 $2,700,000 |
| Mary Landrieu |
$1,541,109 > $1,500,000 |
$8,519,064 $8,477,955 |
$5,515,394 > $5,400,000 |
Pay up, Oyster.
