Cheney To Raise Funds for Scalise + Cassidy Monday

The Advocate reports that Vice-President Dick Cheney will be leaving his unidentified bunker to raise money at fundraisers for Republican candidates Steve Scalise and Bill Cassidy on Monday.

Cheney's first stop will be in Metairie to help out at a Scalise fundraiser. The Scalise campaign that continues to insist it's not a close race. Then why do they have Vice-President Dick Cheney coming in to raise some money for them?

Cheney's second stop will in Baton Rouge for Bill Cassidy, who continues to impress people with how bad his campaign ads are. On top of that, I don't quite understand how a candidate for Congress can insist that having a Vice-President speaking on behalf of his campaign means it's a private event:

"His comments are going to be on behalf of our campaign," Cassidy said. "It is not a public event."

If you're running for Congress, don't we deserve to know who you're associating with, and what folks speaking on your campaign's behalf are saying?

Now, since Cheney has been one of the most secretive Vice Presidents we've ever had, one would normally assume that he wanted the events closed to the public. Apparently, that's not the case:

"Cheney will be speaking at both events, but they are closed to the media and public at the request of the campaigns," [Cheney spokeswomen Megan] Mitchell said.

Guess they don't want to see pictures of Cheney and them plastered all over the news.

Wow, Joe, where do I even begin? (1.33 / 3)
First of all, do your homework.  Don Cazayoux was elected to the United States Congress on May 3rd.  He was sworn into the United States Congress on May 6th.

Thus, he was no longer a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives when the vote on the legislative pay increase was held.  Thus, he didn't vote.  Thus, you're lying to my readers.

Also, HB 489 is the bill introduced by Rep. Monica to designate the State of Louisiana as "Hollywood South."  Further, there was NO House Bill 6899 in the Louisiana Legislature in 2008.

You obviously espouse the let's drown the government in the bathtub position that Republicans are fond of.  Worked out real well for us down here in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, didn't it?

Troll Alert! (2.00 / 2)
Aside from that, I have to wonder:

CHENEY?

REALLY?

The most unpopular Vice President in modern history.

Why would anyone in a competitive election want that kiss of death?

Cassidy VOTED for Pay Increase As Well ... (2.00 / 2)
You used the same IP address for registering both user names.  Obviously, you're a troll.

Second, that HB 489 was for statewide elected officials to have their pay raised, and it was in 2007, as you finally admit.  I mean, come on, the Governor of Louisiana is a year round position, and we were only paying them $85,000.  You think your hero Bobby Jindal doesn't deserve a little more money for his efforts?

Third, be consistent.  Cassidy voted for it as well (pdf alert).
