LA-01: Is Scalise Ducking Debates YET Again?

This spring, once the Mistake On the Lake, errrr, Steve Scalise secured the Republican nomination, he decided he didn't need to face the voters for the general election. So he skipped a scheduled League of Women Voters (LWV) debate with Democratic nominee Gilda Reed in May.

It seems that he's at it again, as the League of Women Voters of St. Tammany Parish plans to host a debate between Steve Scalise and Democratic nominee Jim Harlan later this month. Mr. Harlan has agreed to debate, but the LWV hasn't set a date yet, thanks to the failure of Steve Scalise to respond to several phone call requests from the LWV.

Mr. Harlan has also accepted a Press Club of New Orleans invitation to debate. The question remains whether Mr. Scalise will even bother to face his opponent or the voters. It'd be nice to see if Mr. Scalise believes that the people have a right to hear the views of candidates for public office. But I'm betting he'd rather go to Alaska to hunt some moose and learn how to field-dress one from the Barracuda herself.

Scalise stood up more than just the LWV. (0.00 / 1)
He reneged on ABC-News the night before the scheduled face to face with him and me, and phoned in an interview instead.  He also did the same last minute no-show with WLAE, calling in instead.  Any time any of the forums had a segment where the candidates could ask each other questions, Scalise would leave early with the exception of the WDSU Hotseat segment. He generally arrived late as well. He re-scheduled a joint radio show with WRNO knowing I could not appear that day due to my announced plans to be in Houma at my grandbaby's delivery.
So what is new?  Jindal did the same politically "savvy" moves to escape public accountability.

Gilda Werner Reed

but, Spud gave us a good show! (0.00 / 1)
Scalise did finally show up for ONE debate last election-- on radio, on the WWL Spud McKenzie Show...And, many of us remember how well Gilda Reed did....and all Scalise could say was "Pelosi this, and Pelosi that"....Oh yeah- that WWL appearance probably scared Stevie for a while.

Ha! (0.00 / 1)
Harlan nailed Scaleaze on the cost of that trip?..And Scaleaze squirmed?..LOL!... I love it when he flops around like a slimy worm.

Who said this man was a leader?  Why did he enter politics?

Can you imagine having to sit any length of time with Stevie Scalise at the same table? ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
